USA, California: Ormat Obtains 26 Year 150 MW PPA at $75.50 per MWh Ormat Technologies, Inc. today announced receipt of the final approval required for the execution of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between ONGP LLC, a subsidiary of the company, and Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA).

Indonesia: Government to Auction Five Geothermal Sites With Capacity of 330 MW next Month Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry new renewable energy and energy conservation director-general Rida Mulyana said that the regulation is being finalized at the legal bureau. He expects the auction to commence in June. The ministerial regulation also conforms to the government regulation on geothermal utilization.

USA: General Electric Set to Takeover Baker Hughes The European Union Commission cleared General Electric's purchase of Baker Hughes without conditions Wednesday. It determined that the merger of the two U.S. companies would do no harm to competition in European markets for various products where both were active.

Greece: Joint Venture Formed to Develop Geothermal Project Mr. Roman Panov, Managing Director - Chairman of the Board of JSC Rosgeologia and Mr. Dimitris Copelouzos, Chairman and Managing Director of Copelouzos Group, signed an agreement to jointly develop a geothermal project in northern Greece.

United Kingdom: Work on Cornish Geothermal Pool to Begin in September A historic open air pool will become the first in the country to be partially heated by geothermal energy. Penzance's Jubilee Pool has received a £1.4 million European grant to utilize geothermal waters at 35°C, to enable a year-round opening.

Russia: 1.9 GW of Renewable Energy Projects to Be Auctioned Russia is aiming to kickstart its renewables industry by auctioning off contracts to companies willing to purchase 1.9 GW of clean electricity, in its biggest ever tender for renewable energy. The government tender will run from May 29 to June 9 in two stages, and has attracted the interest of Finland’s largest energy company Fortum Oyj, along with Enel SpA of Italy.

USA: Western Imbalance Market Grows Market for Renewable Energy in West U.S. and Canada The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will join the California Energy Imbalance Market beginning in April 2019, making it the 11th utility to agree to join the voluntary market.
