Education: $14,000 in Educational Awards Announced by Geothermal Resources Council- To qualify for any of these awards a student must be a GRC member (student memberships are only $20 per year). Selection of recipients will be based upon a variety of factors, including the individual’s academic record, student activities, geothermal industry experience, and career goals.

Kenya: Single Geothermal Wells With a Capacity of 30 MW or More! - The Geothermal Development Company (GDC) holds that the Africa title goes to its Well 1A at Menengai fields in Nakuru, since its capacity of 30.6 MW is slightly higher than KenGen’s best performing well at 30 MW.

Commonwealth of Dominica: World Bank Approves Funding of 7 MW Geothermal Power Project - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved the US$27 million project which aims to increase the share of renewables, diversify the country’s energy matrix, and identify a clear road map for private sector investment in geothermal development.
USA, Nevada: New Legislation Would Require 50% Renewables by 2030 - The bill would ensure the Silver State’s electricity providers meet at least 50% of customers’ energy needs with clean, renewable sources – including wind, solar and geothermal – by 2030.
Indonesia: Possible Geothermal Energy Resources Attract Chinese Investors in North Sulawesi Province - The geothermal sources have the potential to generate 1,400 MW of electrical power. However, only 200 MW of electricity have been produced.

USA, California: Ormat Signs PPA for 16 MW from Casa Diablo-IV Geothermal Project- Under the PPA, SCPPA will purchase 16 MW of power generated by the expected 30 MW Casa Diablo-IV (CD4) geothermal project located in Mammoth Lakes, California. SCPPA will resell the output to the City of Colton in the County of San Bernardino in Southern California.
Costa Rica: Start of Operations at 55 MW Las Pailas II Geothermal Plant Brought Forward to May - The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) decided to advance by one month the integration of the Las Pailas II Geothermal Plant to the National Electric System (SEN) due to the effects that the drought that the country has been experiencing has had on hydroelectric generation.

Netherlands: Government Commits to Geothermal District Heating Projects- Energiebeheer Nederland (EBN), which already participates in all oil and gas extraction projects in the Netherlands, will therefore enter the geothermal energy sector on behalf of the government.
Chile: Government Wants to "Improve and Facilitate the Generation of Geothermal-based Initiatives" - The Minister of Energy, Susana Jiménez, announced that during this year they will develop a national strategy that identifies the main issues and actions that must be addressed to allow effective and clean development of thermal consumption in industries and households.
New Zealand: 28 MW Expansion of Ngāwhā Geothermal Power Station to be Completed by October 2020 - Top Energy is on track to commission a 32 MW generator at its site near Kaikohe in October 2020 – eight months earlier than planned.

USA, Hawaii: USGS Explains the Science of Volcanic Threats to Puna Geothermal Venture- A public meeting will be held Friday night at the Pāhoa High & Intermediate School cafeteria, regarding Puna Geothermal Venture, although United States Geological Survey (USGS) scientists have already answered one set of pressing questions.
