USA, Hawaii: Ormat to Replace Ten Steam Units at Puna Geothermal Venture with Two Binary Units - This upgraded facility will utilize the same amount of geothermal resource that the existing 38 MW facility requires. The modern equipment, with increased efficiency, will increase the Puna complex generating capacity by 8 MW to a total of 46 MW and will significantly reduce the operating costs.
Global: Kelly Blake and Elisabeth de Jong Join the Board of Geothermal Resources Council - They join two other members who have been re-elected to the Board of Directors: Ann Robertson Tait and Josh Nordquist.
USA: Registration Opens for 2020 Geothermal Design Challenge - The design challenge focuses on a non-technical barrier to geothermal development to foster understanding and share the benefits of geothermal energy technologies. Student teams of two or three will use GIS mapping to create a compelling infographic/poster or interactive map to discover potential opportunities from this renewable energy source.

USA, Nevada: Public Scoping Begins for Proposed 40 MW San Emidio II - North Valley Geothermal Project - Ormat Nevada, Inc. is proposing the Project, which includes two 20-megawatt closed-loop binary geothermal power plants, geothermal fluid production and injection wells and well pads, access roads, geothermal fluid pipelines, ancillary support facilities, and an overhead generation tie (gen-tie) powerline with associated facilities.
Australia: White Paper on Recent Developments and Future Potential of Geothermal Electricity Generation - The white paper addresses the current status and context of geothermal electricity generation in Australia, explores the trends in technology development in Australia and internationally and identifies the potential contribution that geothermally-generated electricity could make to Australia’s energy transition.
Netherlands: Big Oil Company Joins Geothermal District Heating Project - Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) and Shell are joining the Warmte van Leeuwarden consortium to help further realize the existing geothermal heat project in Leeuwarden. The project will make an important contribution to making Leeuwarden's heat demand more sustainable.

Kenya: Geothermal Development Company Announces New Exploration in West of Menengai Crater - GDC did not disclose the projected cost of the project — Menengai West Geothermal Drilling Project — adding that the specific locations to be explored and depth of the wells will depend on the funds available.
France: New Online Information Portal Dedicated to Geothermal Energy - The Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe) and the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM) have launched a new information portal dedicated to geothermal energy. The dedicated website is "géothermies.fr".

Netherlands: French Energy Developer Buys into Dutch Geothermal Heat Company - ENGIE has acquired Hydreco Geomec. With this acquisition, ENGIE becomes the market leader and strengthens its power in the field of geothermal heat.
