Monday, November 6
Taiwan: Geothermal Energy Could be Generated at Retired Nuclear Plants - DPP Legislator Rosalia Wu said the council should be tasked with the development of geothermal power, given that a viable source can be found about 20km beneath the Guosheng Nuclear Power Plant in New Taipei City’s Wanli District.

St. Kitts and Nevis: Drilling Rig Arrives For Nevis Geothermal Project - Installation and assembly are expected to commence in a day or two. The drilling process will follow and the exploratory drilling is estimated to take about 45 days.

Tuesday, November 7
Japan: Short-Term Flow Tests at Akita Geothermal Energy Project Carried Out - INPEX and Partners Conduct Short-term Flow Tests on Exploratory Well for Geothermal Power Generation in the Oyasu region of Akita Prefecture, Japan

Nicaragua: Third Well at San Jacinto Geothermal Project to be Drilled Soon - This well, SJ 12-5, will be drilled off the same well-pad as SJ 12-4, likely targeting further expansion of the production zone at San Jacinto to the north or northwest. Drilling of SJ 12-5 is expected to commence in November 2017.

USA, California: Deal Reached to Fund Salton Sea Restoration - Geothermal Energy has an opportunity to provide the revenue for restoring the blighted inland sea.

Netherlands: Drilling Starts for 4,000 Meter Deep Geothermal Well for Greenhouse Warming Project - Last week the drilling started for the Westland Trias geothermal project, a geothermal project initiated by 49 greenhouse companies aiming to heat their greenhouses in a renewable manner and with stable costs.

Thursday, November 9
Latin America: Second Call for EOI in Funding for Geothermal Projects Begins December 1- The Geothermal Development Facility for Latin America (GDF) has announced that the second call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) in grant funding for geothermal projects will begin on December 1, 2017.

Kenya: AUC Grant to Help Fund 140 MW Turkana Geothermal Project - Olsuswa Energy has received a grant totalling $980,000 (about Sh101.5 million) from the African Union Commission (AUC), towards the development of its Turkana geothermal power plant.

USA, Idaho: Resource Estimate at San Emidio II Geothermal Project Between 25 and 47 MW After Flow Test - Completed multi-well flow test at San Emidio II; results continue to support resource estimate of 25 MWs (at P90) to 47 MWs (at P50).

All 212 Technical Papers from 2017 GRC Annual Meeting Now Available in the Geothermal Library.

Iceland: Field Enhancement Efforts Increase Generation at Reykjanes Geothermal Power Plant to 76 MW - Recent field enhancement efforts (including wellhead cleaning and adjustments to turbine pressure and reservoir levels) have resulted in increased generation.

USA, Idaho: California Will Value Geothermal Energy Again as a Baseload Renewable - US Geothermal - The California market is ever-changing and in general we see it moving back toward valuing baseload renewable energy as they increase our overall renewable energy procurement moving toward their 50% RPS requirement.
