Italy: More than 200 Meeting Attendees to Discuss Global Geothermal Energy Development - Leaders and ministers from more than 25 governments will meet in Florence, Italy on 11 September, to accelerate the global adoption of geothermal energy. The Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA) meeting represents the largest such ministerial gathering dedicated to geothermal energy development.

Tuesday, September 5
Netherlands: Government Compensates for 50 MW of Geothermal Energy - The government-run agency Rijkdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) has allocated 50 MW of generation capacity to geothermal projects.

USA, California: Bond Measure Promises Geothermal Energy Development at Salton Sea - California lawmakers have lined up $280 million for dust-control and habitat restoration projects at the Salton Sea as part of a proposed bond measure that would go before voters next year.

Wednesday, September 6
China: Drilling Reaches 236°C at 3,705 Meters in Hot Dry Rock Geothermal Project - Chinese scientists have reached a hot dry rock (HDR) reservoir 3,705 meters deep in the Gonghe basin in China’s northwestern Qinghai province, said state-owned broadcaster CCTV.

Greece: Chinese Bank to Help Develop Geothermal Energy Projects - China Development Bank and the Public Power Corporation are due to sign a MOU to cooperate in the development of renewable energy projects in Greece and the wider region, including geothermal energy.

Thursday, September 7
Hungary: 3 MW Turawell Geothermal Power Plant Begins Commissioning - The project team is starting up the commissioning procedures of the first geothermal power plant in Hungary. The power plant will produce 3 MW and 7 MWth heating capacity.

Indonesia: First Unit at 240 MW Sorik Marapi Geothermal Power Project Could Be Operating Within a Few Months - Drilling works will now proceed on pads C and D. Estimated steam under wellhead is above schedule. The project team targets to bring the first unit into operation within a few months.

Canada: Dajin Invests in Lithium Extraction from Geothermal Brine Technology - Enirgi Group has developed a new, efficient, cost effective technology for extracting Lithium carbonates from Lithium bearing brines using their Direct Extraction Process Technology (DXP Technology).

Friday, September 8
St. Kitts and Nevis: Production Drilling to Begin at Nevis Geothermal Plant - Follow on well drilling for the project is to begin very soon and the drilling rig for the initial phase of the geothermal project is scheduled to arrive on October 4th.

France: Disney Inspired Resort Uses Geothermal Energy for 100% of Heating Needs - Its use of geothermal energy, with water at 30°C, means that the Aqualagon and the outside lagoon can be used for bathing throughout the year.
