Call for Sessions for GRC Annual Meeting & Expo
- Due November 8, 2019

This is a “Call for Sessions” for the 2020 GRC Annual Meeting & Expo to be held at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada from October 18-21, 2020. We are inviting proposals for specific sessions at next year’s meeting. Sessions can be organized and led by up to three people, a session chair and two co-chairs. Successful session chairs will be expected to assist the technical chair to recruit authors and organize reviews. A session will include at least four papers. More Information.......

United Kingdom: Drilling at Eden Geothermal Project to Begin Next Summer - This first well will initially supply a heating system for Eden’s biomes, offices and greenhouses. It is intended to pave the way for the second phase – another well almost three miles deep and an electricity plant.

USA, California: EnergySource Minerals Announces Commercial Lithium Extraction Initiative - “EnergySource Minerals has successfully completed a feasibility study for the extraction and production of lithium from geothermal brine and is now proceeding toward a commercial lithium extraction initiative called Project ATLiS,” said EnergySource Minerals CEO and President Eric Spomer.

USA, New Mexico: Lightning Dock Geothermal Power Plant Re-Powered With Turboden Equipment - The Lightning Dock Geothermal power plant, originally commissioned in 2013, completed the six-month construction of a new plant and celebrated the repowering with an event in Animas, NM, attended by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Ron Darnell, Senior Vice President of PNM Resources.

USA, California: Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources to be Renamed - DOGGR to be renamed the Geologic Energy Management Division.

USA, California: The Promise of Producing Lithium from Salton Sea Geothermal Power Plants - [.....]geothermal plants could soon contribute to California’s war against climate change in a new way: by producing lithium, a key ingredient in batteries that power electric cars and store solar power for use after dark.

Tuesday, October 15
USA, Nevada: GRC Board Member is New Geothermal Commissioner - Josh Nordquist was appointed as the Geothermal Commissioner. Josh is the Manager of US Resource Operations for Ormat Technologies, the largest geothermal electrical producer in the State. He is a member of the Geothermal Resources Council, served as Vice-President of the Geothermal Energy Association and was a member of the Nevada New Energy Industry Task Force.

Indonesia: Toshiba to Supply 10 MW Small Scale Geothermal Power Plant in Central Java - This 10 MW-class small scale geothermal power plant will be constructed in the Dieng plateau and located near the existing Dieng Geothermal Power Plant Unit 1, which has been operating since 2002. For this new power plant, Toshiba ESS will supply 'Geoportable™'.

Global: Opportunity to Help the GRC Promote Awareness of Geothermal Energy - The GRC is seeking proposals for assistance with developing a marketing plan, promotional materials and website.

USA: ACORE Recommends Federal High-Penetration Renewable Energy Standard - Qualifying technologies should, at a minimum, include wind, solar, hydropower, ocean, tidal, hydrokinetic, and geothermal energy.

Switzerland: Drilling at Lavey Geothermal Energy Project to Begin 2021 - The project obtained all the necessary authorizations from the cantons of Vaud and Valais without any opposition. The construction of the drilling platform will begin mid-2020.

Global: Discounted Membership Available to International Members of Geothermal Association - The Geothermal Resources Council is now offering discounted membership to members from certain countries according to World Bank classifications.

USA, California: Calpine Announces Funding Plan for Operations at The Geysers Geothermal Field - Any excess funds from such dividend may be used by Calpine Corporation for general corporate purposes) and (iv) fund working capital, ongoing capital requirements and general corporate purposes of the Geysers Entities.

Latin America: Geothermal Development Facility Invites Call for Proposals - The Fourth Call for Proposals (CFP) is now open. You may submit your application anytime between now and Midnight (23:59) Greenwich Mean Time (GMT -5) of November 26, 2019.

USA, California: Employment Opportunity as Geothermal Production Engineer at The Geysers - The Production Engineer will work as part of the Geothermal Production Analysis team in analyzing production and injection data, developing data-management improvement recommendations, conducting reservoir and steam gathering system performance evaluations for optimum field development.
