Chile’s environmental watchdog SEA has approved the USD 200mn expansion of Enel’s Cerro Pabellón geothermal plant.
In a meeting Friday morning in the northern city of Antofagasta, authorities gave the go-ahead to expand South America’s first geothermal plant to enter operations.
Enel Generación subsidiary Geotérmica del Norte, in charge of the expansion, told BNamericas it is preparing to begin construction in 3Q 2019.
