Monday, July 9
Canada: Local Group Plans Hot Pool from Valemount Geothermal Resources - If Borealis GeoPower is successful, the company will develop a power plant and provide opportunities for other heat users, but the local Valemount Geothermal Society has something else in mind. The society intends to develop a commercial hot pool.

USA, Hawaii: Ormat Re-Affirms its Commitment to Re-Open Puna Geothermal Venture- has told the 30 full-time workers they will remain on the payroll for at least a year.

Tuesday, July 10

Europe: Miklos Antics is New President of European Geothermal Energy Council - The board meeting unanimously approved the nomination of Miklos Antics, who has been member of the EGEC board since 2004 and has served as EGEC vice-president since 2013.

Austria: Directional Controlled Vertical Geothermal Well to be Drilled up to 2750 Meters- The directional controlled vertical well is planned to be drilled up to a depth of 2610 m to 2750 m in order to exploit the Upper Malm reservoir. The abandonment of the old well TH3 and the conductor installation for the new well have already been performed by Züblin earlier this year.

Mexico: Possible Geothermal Energy Resource Discovered off Baja California - After searching for more than 10 years, a research team from the Department of Natural Resources at UNAM’s Institute of Geophysics has located a deep-sea deposit containing hydrothermal vents or “sea chimneys” off the southern coast of the Baja California peninsula.

USA: NREL Releases Updated Annual Technology Baseline for Electricity Generation - A key source of reliable electricity generation technology cost and performance data used to support and inform electric sector analysis in the United States.

Djibouti: Lac Assal Geothermal Power Project Goes Ahead - The Horn of African nation now has installed capacity of about 120 megawatts (MW) and the new plant aims to add 50-100 MW when completed.

Croatia: Tender Opened for Operation of Four Geothermal Resources - The object of the tender includes the entire procedure for issuing a licence for the exploration of geothermal waters and the permit for obtaining geothermal waters, the ministry said.
