Monday, June 4

USA, Hawaii: Puna Geothermal Venture Almost Completely Cut-Off - Vigorous eruption of lava continues from the lower East Rift Zone (LERZ) fissure system in the area of Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens.

United Kingdom: Geothermal Energy Debated in House of Commons - Luke Graham MP led an adjournment debate on geothermal energy in the Scottish county of Clackmannanshire but also on its use in the wider United Kingdom.

Indonesia: Progress at Aceh Geothermal Power Project - PT Sabang Geothermal Energi (SGE) started work on the Sabang geothermal power project in Jaboi village, Sukajaya district, Sabang city, last Wednesday (30/5).

Canada: First Well at Canoe Reach Geothermal Project Expected to Spud in Coming Days - The well authorizations will allow the company to begin drilling for collection of geotechnical and temperature gradient information.

Indonesia: 15 MW First Phase of Sorik Marapi Geothermal Energy Project Now Producing Power - Sorik Marapi is now producing power from the first phase to the grid in Indonesia only 19 months after spud in of the first well.

Thursday, June 7
Australia: Birdsville Geothermal Power Plant Not to be Upgraded - Plans to replace what was Australia’s only utility-owned and operated geothermal power station in Birdsville – a small town at the end of the eponymous Birdsville Track, in central west Queensland – have been dumped in favour of a switch to distributed solar and storage.

Hungary: Chinese Company to Build 40 MW Geothermal Power Plant - The 40 MW power plant will supply heat to farms and residential buildings as well as generate electricity. Zhejiang Kaishan Compressorʼs geothermal business will also set up a base in Budapest.
