A multi-million pound deal to produce geothermal energy by drilling in Crewe could be in place by the end of this year.
Cheshire East Council announced in March it was in talks with potential partners about plans to drill at Leighton West.
On Wednesday, during his leader’s speech to the full council, Cllr Michael Jones said: “I’m very confident we can get a geothermal deal done this year where £50m of private sector money will come in. Geothermal in Crewe is a game-changer.”
