EDC Eying New Overseas Geothermal Sites

Lopez-owned Energy Development Corporation (EDC) is eyeing a new potential geothermal exploration site close to its existing ventures in Latin America.

When asked on the matter, EDC president and chief operating officer Richard B. Tantoco hinted that “there is something exciting coming” for the company.

He did not disclose the prospective investment site, but it was gathered that the company is setting its sight next on Nicaragua in Central America.

EDC has been trying to raise the Philippine flag at its targeted ventures in Latin America – primarily at its geothermal exploration development prospects in Chile and Peru.

It has already programmed investments for its Chile and Peru exploration activities – and when proven viable for commercial steam production, the company would be able to etch not only the Lopez brand but the country’s geothermal development supremacy overseas.
