Green Energy Group Hands Over 5 MWe Olkaria Wellhead Geothermal Power Plant

Green Energy Group AS, a Norwegian company headquartered in Oslo, announced yesterday that it has passed the final test of its pilot 5 MW flash type modular wellhead geothermal power plant after a 18 month pilot run. The customer, Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) had issued the 2nd Acceptance Certificate for the plant last month.

To speed up geothermal development and bringing power online from geothermal projects earlier, in 2009 Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) sought a pilot modular wellhead solution. Green Energy Group was awarded a contract for the construction of a 5 MW wellhead pilot plant in December 2009 bringing the plant online in the spring of 2012.

Green Energy Group is building 10 additional wellhead plants for KenGen at Olkaria.
