USA, California:

Local Agencies Approve Salton Sea Accord (Imperial Valley Press)

Imperial County and IID pledge to work together to seek federal, state and local funds to develop the lake’s geothermal energy area

The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors on Tuesday formalized its push to restore the Salton Sea and transform the area into an energy producer with its unanimous approval of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the matter with the county of Imperial and the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District.

The county and IID pledge to work together to seek federal, state and local funds to develop the lake’s geothermal energy area and a commitment from the state to fund and construct an energy transmission line to give the IID the capacity to export energy generated in the area.
