Chile Gets New Renewable Energy Goal (BNamericas)

Renewable energy development in Chile has received legislative backing after the senate passed the 20/25 renewable energy bill on Tuesday (Sep 3).

The bill sets a 2025 goal of having 20% of power coming from nonconventional renewable energy (NCRE), which in Chile includes solar, wind, geothermal, tidal/wave and hydro power below 20 MW.

NCRE contributes 6.06% of the electricity distributed through Chile's two largest energy grids, according to the latest report by the energy ministry's renewable energy center CER.
