Geothermal Energy Recommended in Nigeria (THISDAY Live)

A Nigerian tourism and hospitality management expert, Mr. Timothy Oladimeji, has advocated the use of geothermal reservoir as an alternative energy source to combat the frequent power outages in the country, stressing that Nigeria’s development is tied to an effective and sustainable energy stability.

Oladimeji, also a Lecturer at the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Bauchi campus, in a seminar paper titled ‘Exploitation of Geothermal reservoirs for tourism and sustainable energy development’ presented to staff members and students of the institute as well as stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism sector, emphasized that geothermal energy is an economically viable replacement for petroleum products in the country.
