Indonesian Gov't Auctions Six Geothermal Work Areas (Indonesia Finance Today)

The Indonesian government plans to auction six geothermal working areas with total capacity of 400 MWe in 2013. Jajang Sukarna, Secretary to the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said the government will soon auction the six work areas once revision on Government Regulation Number 59 Year 2007 on Geothermal Business Activities is completed.

Jajang said one of the important points of the regulation that will be revised is the setting of the geothermal work area bidding’s winner based on the lowest offering price. In the revised regulation, the winner of geothermal work area bidding is not decided from the lowest offering price, but from the company’s program and commitment. “The winner will be the developer that has commitment,” he said to IFT.
