“This project is a great example of one of the ways Nevada’s geothermal energy potential can be harnessed. It is in our national interest to promote alternative sources of energy and I believe that renewable energy must be a part of any long-term energy strategy for our nation. Nevada has vast geothermal resources, and I will continue to support policies that encourage renewable energy development in our country,” said Senator Dean Heller.
The Peppermill is the only resort in the United States to have a heating source provided by on-property geothermal energy. The Peppermill harnesses geothermal energy to heat the resort’s domestic water and mechanical heat throughout the 2.1 million square foot facility.
Following the tour Senator Heller stopped by the 36th GRC Annual Meeting and GEA Geothermal Energy Expo where he met with a variety of geothermal companies.
