BLM Seeks Public Input For The Comstock Geothermal Exploration Plan (BLM)
The
Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District,
Stillwater Field Office, is seeking public input as it initiates an Environmental Assessment for the
Comstock Geothermal Exploration operation plan on geothermal leases submitted by
Ormat Nevada Inc. The BLM is also requesting public input under
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for the project. This includes seeking information and identifying historic properties in or near the project area. The BLM will be analyzing the direct, indirect, and cumulative effects for the proposed exploration operation plan. Public comments will be accepted through January 18, 2020.
The project is located in Churchill County, Nevada, approximately 47 miles northeast of Fallon, Nevada. The proposed Comstock Geothermal Exploration Project would include drilling and testing of up to 10 geothermal wells and access road construction. The project would include approximately 49.2 acres of new disturbance on BLM-administered lands.
