2020 Geothermal Design Challenge Launches Next Month (Idaho National Lab)
“Geothermal energy is difficult to understand because it is located underground. How can geospatial mapping increase our understanding of this important renewable energy resource? How can GIS improve how we visualize and communicate about geothermal energy?”
The Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) is pleased to announce that the 2020 Geothermal Design Challenge™: GIS is just around the corner, with registration scheduled to open on January 6, 2020.
The 2020 competition will focus on Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, and is open to graduate, undergraduate, and high school students across the country.
Participating students can expect to build valuable geospatial mapping skills, while increasing their understanding of renewable geothermal power and its potential as a critical piece of America’s energy grid.
