United Kingdom: Geothermal District Heating Project Wins Energy Buying Team of the Year Award

Southampton Geothermal District Heating Project Wins Major Award! (Ecova)

The Energy Awards ceremony brought together over 600 of the most senior operators in the energy market both local and international on Wednesday 5th December at London Hilton on Park Lane to recognise and celebrate the very best of the energy industry in the UK.

The award for the Energy Buying Team of the Year went to the Southampton District Heating Scheme in partnership with Ecova of Dartford, Kent.

The Southampton geothermal system has been supplying 13 GWh of energy a year, about 1.7MWt (heat) by extracting water at a temperature of 76 ℃ from a depth of 1.7 km in the Wessex Basin.
