Regional Geothermal Resource Data Gathering UNFC Classification and Training Workshop (IRENA)

5 – 7 December 2018, Castries, St Lucia

Under the framework of the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA) (the Geothermal Resources Council is a member), IRENA, the International Geothermal Association (IGA) and the World Bank are co-organizing a series of technical sessions with the Geological Surveys of the Caribbean Islands States, and other local stakeholders in the geothermal sector in the region.

From the sessions that plan to be conducted in St Lucia, an expert group looks to gather information to develop an understanding of the inventory of existing geothermal fields and resource recovery estimates in St Lucia, Guadeloupe (French territory), Saint Kitts & Nevis, Montserrat, Grenada and Dominica. With this information, the group intend to support the five islands in classifying the resource estimates in accordance with the Internationally acceptable guidelines of the UNFC.
