Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis: Power Engineers to Help on Nevis Geothermal Power Project

Power Engineers Joins the NRE International, Inc. team for EPC Review and Owner’s Representative Services

NRE International, Inc. (NREI), the developer of the Nevis Geothermal Project, in cooperation with the Nevis Island Administration, announced today that Power Engineers has joined the Nevis project team to provide design review, inspection and Owner’s representative services for the construction of the Nevis Geothermal Project.

Power Engineers is a USA-based firm with offices in 39 locations in the United States and in 4 international locations. Power Engineers has been the engineer for more than 600 MW of new geothermal generating capacity, in locations ranging from the U.S., Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Kenya, and Turkey.

According to Bruce Cutright, CEO of NREI, “The addition of Power Engineers is the latest example of our push to ensure that we have the best and most capable team in place to develop the Nevis geothermal plant.”

Power Engineers offers complete multidiscipline engineering and program management services. Founded in 1976, PE is an employee-owned company with more than 1,300 employees. NREI is pleased to welcome them to the Nevis Geothermal Project Team and looks forward to a rapid review and completion of the EPC contract before year end.

The Nevis Geothermal Project is a 10 MegaWatt geothermal generating plant located on the former Hamilton Estates Property on the Island of Nevis, Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Eastern Caribbean. The Nevis Island Administration is a partner and co-developer of the project with NREI. Once developed, the geothermal plant will enable the island to transition away from the use of fossil fuels and be 100 percent reliant on zero emission renewable energy power generation. NREI and NIA have completed extensive investigations to define the geothermal reservoir beneath the island, completed the well testing necessary and are now in the final design stages prior to construction start.

NREI is a subsidiary of Thermal Energy Partners, LLC, a geothermal energy development firm based in Austin, Texas.
