Drilling commenced at the site of the southern power station (Heizkraftwerk Sued) at the end of April 2018 in Munich, marking the beginning of the largest inner city geothermal scheme in Europe for district heating.
The Stadtwerke Muenchen (SWM Services GmbH) has commissioned the drilling of six deviated wells from a single well site to depth of around 3,000m with a well length of up to 4,400m. The wells are planned to be completed by the end of 2019 and shall be drilled by Daldrup & Soehne AG.
