The Bureau of Land Management sold more than half of its Nevada geothermal leases offered this week to help develop the nation’s renewable energy sources.
Fourteen Nevada parcels were sold for a total of 32,075 acres, at a cost of $130,553.
Four of the six Utah parcels sold, totaling $38,040, while neither of the two parcels offered in California received any bids.
Ormat Nevada Inc., Blue Mountain Research & Development LLC, and Intermountain Renewable Power LLC paid up to $2.50 per acre for the leases, which are for a 10-year period.
Fifty percent of revenue from the sales goes to states, 25 percent to counties, and 25 percent is kept by the federal government.
