Earlier this Spring, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Geothermal Technologies Office, in partnership with the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) launched a competition for high school and university students to design an infographic that illustrates the value and potential of geothermal energy.
More than 100 teams from across the United States, comprised of 2-3 students each, submitted their infographics on March 1, and the top eleven were chosen in June from a committee of engineers, energy experts, and creative professionals.
Three teams chosen as official winners by The U.S. Dept. of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) will receive receive $2,500 each. The grand prize winner, Infinity and Below from Carnegie Mellon University, will receive a trip to the Geothermal Resource Council’s 40th Annual Meeting on Oct 23-26 in Sacramento, CA. to present their infographic.
