Southeast Asia’s first geothermal power plant (Star TV.com)
Thailand will reduce its production cost of electricity with the inception of a geothermal power plant in Chiang Mai- the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
This comes after the kingdom’s government sought to look for alternative sources of electricity production other than oil and coal.
Its geothermal power plant can produce 1.2 mil units of electricity per year and is located some 150 kilometers away from the city center.
While this type of energy may not replace all sources of electricity, it can reduce Thailand’s production costs of electricity.
