2016 Final Emissions Reduction and Capacity Replacement - Renewable Energy RFP (News release)
Expected Commercial Operation Date of the new facilities is December 31, 2017
As a final step to comply with Senate Bill 123 enacted by the Nevada Legislature in 2013,
NV Energy is seeking a 100-megawatt (nameplate capacity)
Power Purchase Agreement for renewable energy in Nevada. Additionally, the company is looking to acquire 35 megawatts of renewable energy nameplate capacity to be owned by NV Energy. This effort requires the approval of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada and is part of a comprehensive plan for the reduction of emissions from coal-fired electric generation plants and partial capacity replacement with increased generation from renewable energy resources.
This request is for new renewable energy resources including biomass,
geothermal, solar, wind or other qualifying renewable energy resources as set forth in Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 704.7811. As part of this Request For Proposals, NV Energy is offering its existing Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone site to bidders as an option for satisfying resource needs identified in this RFP.
