A geothermal energy company plans to plant 10 million trees in Negros Island in 10 years.
Energy Development Corp.’s (EDC) “10M in 10” movement aims to restore forest covers in Negros, now a one-island region.
It will roll out its master plan with environmental conservation and community partners in Negros Oriental today at a hotel here.
In the last five years, an additional 2,700 hectares in Negros Island have been reforested and restored with over two million seedlings planted, the company said.
Moreover, the program brought back to abundance about 96 vanishing premium native tree species, it said.
