The first geothermal atlas of Belarus consists of some 50 detailed maps showing where renewable resources from geothermal wells can be used. So far, the project is in the theoretical stage, however renewable energy is currently produced in 150 places across Belarus.
Two months ago at the UN World Conference 36 countries announced the creation of an international geothermal alliance. Despite the fact that Belarus was not included, the geothermal atlas might be the first step towards the use of renewable energy sources.
