Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have taken a collective decision to increase the share of renewable energy in the region’s fuel mix.
Energy ministers of the ASEAN have announced the adoption of a target to increase the share of renewable energy in the regional fuel mix to 23% by 2020. The decision was taken during the 33rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting on 7 October 2015.
The member states have also adopted a target to reduce the region’s greenhouse gas emissions by 20% over a period of 10 years.
ASEAN member states include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
