KenGen Strikes 33 MW from New Geothermal Wells at Olkaria (News Release)
The
Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has successfully drilled another set of geothermal wells. The three Olkaria wells, OW-923 Trio, located within one pad have a total capacity of 33 megawatts, making it one of Africa’s most productive well-pads.
The wells will be connected to the proposed 140 MW Olkaria V project- which is set to break ground before the end of this year.
KenGen struck 30 MW from a single geothermal well OW-921 in the same field last year. The well was connected to the 140 MW Olkaria IV project.
