The DOE Geothermal Technologies Office has two open Requests for Information:

Industry Play Fairway RFI

The Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) has released the Request for Information regarding risk and uncertainty management of late-stage geothermal exploration activities. Due in part to the lack of response from industry operators and developers during the 2014 Play Fairway Analysis FOA, EERE is specifically interested in information on current opportunities to develop, test, and validate risk and uncertainty models for potential projects that have already been identified by industry. This RFI is intended to lay the groundwork for a planned 2015-2016 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) that could increase the success rate for drilling targets in later-stage exploration activities with industry. Email playfairway@ee.doe.gov by April 24 to provide feedback. More information......

Master Service Drilling RFI

The Request for Information on geothermal drillers has been released. GTO is now exploring a range of options to support Play Fairway Analysis Phase 2 efforts, including the possibility of hiring a contractor to drill exploratory wells in FY16. The RFI will provide initial market research and identify potential candidates to provide these services. GTO is also exploring options to work with the USGS in future drilling of PFA-derived FY 16 exploration plans. More information........
