Bac-Man 3 Unit Resumes Operations (Manila Standard Today)

Bac-Man Geothermal Inc., the wholly-owned subsidiary of  Energy Development Corp. (EDC) that owns and operates the Bacman Power Plants, is now operating Unit 3 at 20 MW, following the completion of repair work.

EDC said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange the Bacman Unit 3 resumed operations April 8 after it tripped early March due to a minor lube oil leak. EDC said Bacman Geothermal would take the opportunity to initiate planned facility upgrades during the plant shutdown.

EDC also assured that the unit was expected to be back in service in time for the peak energy demand in the summer months. BacMan Geothermal earlier completed the installation of the brand new Toshiba steam turbine for unit 2 with a capacity of 55 MW.
