GRC to Promote Geothermal Energy at Salton Sea Hearing
Wednesday, March 18, 2015 – 9:00 a.m., Joe Serna, Jr. – Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, Coastal Hearing Room, 1001 I Street, Second Floor, Sacramento, CA
The California State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) will hold a public workshop tomorrow to receive information and solicit public input regarding the provisions of the State Water Board's decision relating to the Salton Sea and whether the State Water Board should take further actions to address the Salton Sea’s future.
Steve Ponder, Executive Director of the GRC will be in attendance. In a letter already submitted (see left) he suggests that 1,500 - 2,000 MW of geothermal energy can be further developed at the Salton Sea, providing much needed revenue to help pay for the restoration of the shrinking lake.
