Energy VIPs Set to Address I.V. Renewable Energy Summit (News Release)

GRC Member Laura Garchar will give an update on the DOE Geothermal Program at 2 pm.


Jonathan M. Weisgall, a vice president for Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, leads a slate of renewable energy luminaries set to speak at the 8th Annual Imperial Valley Renewable Energy Summit today at the Quechan Resort in Winterhaven, CA.

MidAmerican Geothermal, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary MidAmerican Renewables has a 50 percent interest in 10 geothermal facilities in California’s Imperial Valley that have the capacity to produce up to 327 megawatts.

GRC Member Laura Garchar, Science & Technology Policy Fellow, Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), Department of Energy, will give an update on the DOE Geothermal Program on Thursday, March 12 at 2 pm.
                   
The theme for this year’s summit is “Imperial Valley: Powering New Frontiers.”  In addition to a slate of impressive speakers, the summit features a tour of area renewable energy facilities, a business exposition and plenty of networking opportunities.

The GRC will be in attendance. President Paul Brophy, Executive Director Steve Ponder and Director of Communications Ian Crawford will be representing the geothermal energy community at the summit. Come visit us at booth #15.
