Scotland Provides GBP 250,000 for Geothermal Potential Research (News Release)

Scottish energy minister Fergus Ewing today launched a GBP-250,000 (USD 380,000/EUR 346,000) fund to back research into Scotland's geothermal potential to meet the energy needs of local communities.

The maximum grant that each feasibility study can receive from the Geothermal Energy Challenge Fund is GBP 50,000. Applications will be accepted till the end of April.  

The fund has been created at the advice of a geothermal energy expert group following a 2012/13 study which found that Scotland could have significant potential for geothermal energy in naturally occurring groundwater and in minewater.
