Geothermal projects in Luzon and Visayas to be auctioned off February 23
The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines is starting an auction on February 23 to select developers for four geothermal projects of 20 MW-30 MW each.
This will mark the country’s first Renewable Energy (RE) service contract (SC) bidding, the Philippines News Agency said Monday. It will be conducted through an open and competitive selection process (OCSP), Renewable Energy Management Bureau (REMB) head Mario Marasigan told the agency.
Two of the geothermal plants will be in each of Luzon and Visayas. The other two will be constructed in Mindanao.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the National Power Corp (Napocor) have already carried out feasibility studied at the project sites. The REMB will award the contracts in September, Marasigan has told the Philippines News Agency.
