Costa Rica, Bolivia:

Costa Rica to Advise Bolivia on Geothermal Energy (SeeNews Renewables)

Bolivia is currently working on a project to install the first 50 MW of geothermal energy at Laguna Colorada by 2019.


Costa Rica will assist Bolivia in studying options for development of geothermal energy at the Laguna Colorada lake in Potosi department, Bolivia's president Evo Morales told a press conference on Friday.

A technical team will visit Bolivia in the next weeks to view local projects and help advance towards final design.

Morales discussed the collaboration with Costa Rican president Luis Guillermo Solis during the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States last week.

Bolivia is currently working on a project to install the first 50 MW at Laguna Colorada by 2019. Until now, the government has secured financing for drilling and consultancy with a 40-year loan of nearly USD 25 million (EUR 22m) from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
