Guatemala's Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) forecasts that within the coming three years renewable energy sources will provide up to 12.5 per cent of the country's energy mix.
Figures published in May showed that the country's overall installed capacity reached 2519.2 MW at the time. Renewable devices made up 280.6 MW of that amount, with 241.6 MW coming from biomass, 34 MW from geothermal power plants and 5 MW from solar farms.
