Possible Geothermal Source Found On Saipan (Marianas Variety)

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp., which has been updating members of the Legislature on the progress of its geothermal explorations disclosed yesterday that the drilling in Gualo Rai had shown some positive results.

CUC Board Chairman David J. Sablan told Variety and some House members that federally funded digging intended to find additional water wells, turned into a geothermal resource assessment when the contractor discovered increasing water temperatures.

When the digging reached about 400 feet, the research team noticed increasing water temperatures.
