Geothermal Production Expansion Bill Passes the Senate (Politico)
The U.S. Senate yesterday cleared by unanimous consent the Geothermal Production Expansion Act, a bipartisan bill that would authorize the Bureau of Land Management to offer noncompetitive leases of up to 640 acres of land adjacent to geothermal resources in order for geothermal companies to expand.
S. 363 is sponsored by Ron Wyden, Senior Senator from Oregon and co-sponsored by Mark Begich [D-AK], Michael Crapo [R-ID], Jeff Merkley [D-OR], Lisa Murkowski [R-AK] and James Risch [R-ID].
The bill next goes to the House for consideration.
