Opinion: Take Advantage of the Salton Sea's Resources (The Desert Sun)
Momentum is gaining to tap the vast energy resources of the Salton Sea as a source of funding restoration projects for California's largest lake and to prevent our region's largest potential environmental disaster.
In Washington, D.C., last week, The Wilderness Society hosted a meeting to arm Southern California's congressional delegation with the information needed to convince the Obama administration to designate the Salton Sea a renewable energy zone. Rep. Raul Ruiz, who was honored at the event for his efforts to promote renewable energy projects on federal land, called the push "an all-hands-on-deck project."
