EDC Shuts Down 1 Unit of BacMan Geothermal Plant for Maintenance Work (InterAksyon)
Energy Development Corp. (EDC) will shut down one unit of its Bacon-Manito geothermal plant for a month for maintenance work.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, EDC said the 20 MWe Unit 3 of the BacMan power complex will be offline starting July 7.
The facility will be shut down for approximately 1 month "to replace the existing turbine generator unit with a brand new one and other opportunity maintenance works for the balance of plant," the company said.
As a permanent solution to BacMan's technical problems, EDC will replace the facility's turbine rotor and diaphragms, which it will source from Japanese firm Toshiba.
EDC targets to complete the parts replacement for BacMan's Unit 1 in the fourth quarter this year and Unit 2 in the first quarter next year.
