Manuel Orig, first vice president for Mindanao Affairs, said one of the contract areas for the exploration is Davao City.
"We need the endorsement and support of the Davao City Council for us to be able to proceed in the exploration and, if successful, to construct the geothermal power plant," Orig said.
He said they will wait for five years before they can fully operate with the geothermal power plant.
The exploration will take them two years, then another two years for the construction of the power plant.
He said they will be in full swing as long as they get all the approval of the local government units of Sta. Cruz, Davao City, and Digos City.
