Geothermal Energy on the Iberian Peninsula can Generate Five Times the Current Electricity Capacity

Researchers at the University of Valladolid have estimated how much electricity could be obtained from geothermal heat under the first five miles of the Iberian Peninsula. The results indicate that there is about 700 gigawatts available, which is five times the entire installed capacity existing today. Galicia, Castilla y Leon, Andalusia and Catalonia are the regions with the greatest potential.
