Germans Plan Sh9.5 billion Geothermal Deal in Bogoria (Business Daily Africa)

Baringo County’s quest to become the new hub of geothermal power generation got a boost after German investors pledged Sh9.5 billion (€80 million) to help build new power plants.

The Germans, who were on a fact-finding mission in Kenya last week, made the commitments to President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

The funds are meant for exploration and laying of infrastructure in the Bogoria-Silale region in Baringo in preparation for the setting up of a 200 MWe plant.

The county now joins Naivasha and Nakuru as geothermal hotbeds as Kenya races to tap into the steam wells to boost its power capacity.
