Salton Sea Energy Stakeholders Meet to Support Geothermal Bill (Imperial Valley News)

This Friday, at 11:30 a.m. please join Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez, Senator Ben Hueso, and leaders from the Imperial Irrigation District, Salton Sea Authority, Riverside County, the trades, and the geothermal energy industry for a press conference in La Quinta.

The focus of the press conference is SB 1139, a bill authored by both legislators to promote greater reliance on geothermal energy in meeting the state’s renewable energy goals.  The bill, which advances to the Senate Floor next week for a vote, requires the procurement of 500 megawatts of electricity from base load geothermal power plants by 2024.
