Pertamina to Add 445 MW in Geothermal Capacity (Jakarta Post)

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, subsidiary of state-run oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, says that it has set a target to finish geothermal power plant projects with a total combined capacity of 445 MWe by 2018.

"We are targeting to increase geothermal capacity to 847 MW by the end of 2018," Pertamina Geothermal Energy president director Rony Gunawan said in Jakarta on Monday. Currently, the firm is producing 402 MW of geothermal energy.

He said that among the geothermal plant projects that would be finished over the next four years were the 35 MW Kamojang Unit 5 plant and the 30 MW Karaha Unit 1, both in West Java.

In addition, he said that the company had set a long term target to produce 2,300 MW of energy from geothermal plants by the end of 2025.
