Possible 1,000 MWe Geothermal Energy in Greece (Capital.gr - News Release)

Greece can produce 500 MWe from existing geothermal energy sites and 1,000 MWe from potential geothermal sites, Energy Minister Yiannis Maniatis said in speech in Athens.

Accoridng to  Bloomberg, Maniatis also said that Greece plans to invest EU3b in systems of energy production, energy saving, energy infrastructure, improvement of regulatory framework, “and other actions” from EU funds allocated to the country in the next seven years.

The investment is expected to help create as many as 30,000 new jobs, the minister noted.
