Imperial Irrigation District Board Supports Geothermal Energy Bill (Imperial Valley Press)

The
Imperial Irrigation District (IID) Board of Directors today will consider a public statement of support for proposed legislation that would require California public utilities to procure up to 500 megawatts of energy from geothermal power plants.
If approved,
Senate Bill 1139 would boost the IID’s initiative to tap into the geothermal energy resources at the Salton Sea to offset the loss of the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station while driving environmental restoration efforts.
